GospoGrooveRecently, we had a chat with super talented Gospel singer and incredible vocalist, FavorDiane. Enjoy reading…
GospoGroove: Congratulations on the release of your official debut single – “Victory Dance.” Tell us about the song.
FavorDiane: “Victory Dance” is a type of dance a person does when they’ve won the victory . So this song is a message of encouragement to those who have been trusting in the Lord for something.
It’s to remind believers to have faith in God and just dance because the victory is already theirs.
GospoGroove: “Victory Dance” came with a pretty good lyric video. Any plans to shoot an official music video?
FavorDiane: First and foremost, I want to thank Mr. Victor Igbinigie and his team for their relentless effort in making the lyric video a success and by the Grace of God I will be releasing a music video to it very soon, it’s already in the works.
GospoGroove: Okay. Let’s go back a little. When did you start singing?
FavorDiane: I starting singing at the age of three, I was discovered by a nun she heard me singing at her daycare classroom and told my father that I had a special voice.
GospoGroove: How would you describe your music?
FavorDiane: My music embodies afrobeats mainly but I do intend on branching into other genres such as reggae and contemporary praise.
GospoGroove: You are blessed with a very good voice and this has led some people to say you sound like Beyonce. What do you say to that?
FavorDiane: I thank God for giving me the ability to sing skillfully. Growing up I did get that comparison quite often and that’s because Beyonce’s style of music was a big inspiration for me at that time. I am thankful that I can use that inspiration to the glory of God.
GospoGroove: How do you combine being a worker, recording artiste and member of the indefatigable band – The Righteous Symphony?
FavorDiane: To tell you the truth, balancing it all can be a bit challenging at times. There is no short cut to success it requires a lot of hard work and discipline.
I’ve trained my body to take naps after work so that I have enough energy to practice in the evening. Sometimes I
am fortunate enough to get rest, some days I am not.
By the grace of God I am a part of a hardworking band. There are nights when we don’t finish practice until 2 or 3am in the morning, and even still we have to wake up early to return to our various jobs but it’s the passion for doing God’s work through music that keeps us all going.
I want to thank God for making me a part of The Righteous Symphony.
GospoGroove: Do you play any musical instruments?
FavorDiane: Yes. When I was a little girl, I would go down stairs to the basement right after school to play the piano, that was where I started learning to compose songs. In short, that was the first thing I did before doing my homework. I didn’t pursue it to a professional range but it is something that I love to play from time to time.
GospoGroove: What do you want listeners to take away from an experience with your music?
FavorDiane: I want my listeners to feel encouraged and to have hope instilled in them especially during this time that we are experiencing something that we have never experienced before. I want the listeners to have hope and to continue to trust in the Lord because everything is going to be alright.
GospoGroove: Tell us about your forthcoming song(s)?
FavorDiane: By the Grace of God, I am working on a new song titled “Shout Hallelujah”, it is an African praise song and I plan to release it sometime in June or July.
GospoGroove: Your biggest musical influences?
FavorDiane: My musical Influences are Chioma Jesus, Steve Crown, Erica Campbell, Yolanda Adams, Positive and Marion Hall.
GospoGroove: What would you consider your “biggest break” so far in your musical career?
FavorDiane: I still have a lot of work to do so I haven’t reached my full potential yet nor have I had my big break yet but by the grace of God I will. But I am very happy about the success of my debut single “Victory Dance.”
GospoGroove: Where do you see yourself in the next five years?
FavorDiane: In the next five years I plan to put out an album and to tour around the world spreading the gospel of Christ through my music. I intend on doing more live music with the Righteous Symphony.
GospoGroove: What impact do you want to make with your brand of music ministry and what do you want your legacy to be?
FavorDiane: I want my music ministry to be a ministry of encouragement. I want it to be the type of ministry that can make an individual forget about their sorrows.
The goal of my music is to instill hope and joy. I want to be remembered as a minster that loved to encourage the oppressed and to inspire young minds to use their gift to glorify God. That’s the legacy I want to leave behind.
GospoGroove: From your viewpoint, how do you see Gospel music in Nigeria?
FavorDiane: Gospel Music in Nigeria is phenomenal. It puts me in a very happy place. There is something sweet about Nigerian praise and worship and as we can see it is slowly starting to take over the World.
GospoGroove: A message to your fans.
FavorDiane: I want to thank God for the people who have supported me from the beginning and for those of you that love my music there will be more coming, so stay tuned.
GospoGroove: Thank you for your time.
FavorDiane: Thank you again for this opportunity. God bless.
