Singer, songwriter and music minister, Chy Wonder has released a brand new, Sunny Pee produced single titled “Balm In Gilead.”

She shares the story behind the song: “The experience that gave birth to “Balm In Gilead“ was actually an encounter I had in a church I was serving selflessly that left my spirit broken and hurting. I didn’t go to church for close to a year, at that particular point and season, it was a journey of grinding.

The Holy Spirit taught me so many things as I journeyed with him and allowed him to heal me completely and it was in that season that this song came as I was worshipping one afternoon. (Jer 8:22)

I realised that many have been wounded by the church, many are hurting. Whereas the church is meant to be a place of healing, encouragement and comfort. After a while, I understood that it’s only God that can touch and heal our souls and every bitterness and offences will disappear and one’s life will become sweet, calm and peaceful. Offences in the church shouldn’t drive you away from God but closer, use such season to run, cling and focus on Him.

Chidinma Asole (Nee Okoroji) also known as Chy Wonder started singing at a very tender age in (ACM) Anglican Children’s Ministry or Sunday school where they do go for singing competitions then. But it was in 2008 that she decided to submit totally to the calling because she kept fighting it.

Throughout her university days she never joined any choir or sang professionally but as God is God, He knows how to draw you to Himself and get your attention when He wants and needs it. That is how she found herself as a music minister today.
